The Building Blocks of our Foundation

Dave Mungenast Sr. & Barbara Mungenast have always been ones to give. The Dave and Barbara Mungenast Foundation was created in 1996 to fulfill Dave and Barb’s desire to share their success with the community and environment. While growing their successful businesses, cultivating real estate developments, and, most importantly, raising their family, Dave and Barb experienced the great fortune of living in the United States of America. Many travels and business ventures abroad taught them to appreciate the unparalleled opportunities that had been available to them. Both felt a deep sense of community with their country and with the St. Louis area, and became committed to giving back to the people who helped make them successful.

In 2020, Barbara Mungenast granted $1M from The Dave and Barbara Mungenast Foundation to the Kurt & Katie Mungenast Charitable Foundation.  Grants are made from the Kurt & Katie Mungenast Charitable Fund and the Kurt Mungenast Companies have donated an additional $750K since 2021, allowing over $240K in annual donations.

In 2019, Kurt Mungenast was reunited with the St. Louis Acura team (he stocked shelves there in 1986). The Acura store has won the Acura Precision Award 31 Times and continues to win year after year. In 2004, Kurt became a partner at Alton Toyota, which has won the President's Award 14 times with the most recent award being 2022. Today, the stores continue to grow and expand. Kurt has taken the Acura store from a top 60 store to top 15 Nationwide (out of over 270 Acura dealers) month after month. Between the two stores, over 350 retail units are sold each month. Kurt is dedicated to his teams in Alton and Manchester and continues to promote from within and help employees succeed.
